Thousands of Arab residents of small villages in the “Triangle,” in Galilee, enthusiastically applauded Premier Levi Eshkol at a reception given in his honor today at the village of Tayben. Praising at great length the benefits they had received from the Israel Government in the economic field–water, electricity, telephones, schools and clinics–presented several demands, asking for “equality with Jewish villages.”
Premier Eshkol said he hoped for the day peace would come to the Middle East “and, together with the Arabs, we can declare war on poverty and ignorance, conquer wastelands and fight the ravages of nature.” He described the progress made in the past, adding, “let it be a guarantee for the future.”
