Arabs, Europeans and Jews to Be Employed in Haifa Harbor Construction

Arabs, Europeans and Jews will be given employment in the Haifa Harbor construction work, was the assurance given the House of Commons by Major Orms-by-Gore, Under-Secretary of the Colonial Ofice.

In reply to a question raised by Col. Bury as to whether the work will be contined to Europeans or whether Arabs will be included, Major Ormsby-Gore stated thated that “some Arabs, some Europeans and some, Jews” will be employed.

In reply to a question by Colonel Wedgwood as to whether provisions will be made in the contracts that fair wages be paid and that Jews be employed at the Haifa Harbor construction, Major Ormby-Gore stated that the detailed conditions of labor will be arranged when the terms of the tender are discussed.
