A shepherd from the settlement of Beit Govrin, north of Beersheba, was murdered this week-end by a party of infiltrators from Jordan, a military spokesman revealed here. He stressed that this was the first case of murder by Jordan-based raiders since the Israeli raid on Qalqilya last October.
When the Jewish shepherd’s flock returned home Friday without him, a search party was organized. The party saw the gang of raiders escaping toward the Jordan border. The body was not found until Saturday morning.
An Israeli car hit a landmine in the vicinity of Nir Itzhak, opposite the Gaza Strip, this afternoon. The driver was seriously injured and a passenger was hurt to a lesser degree.
A total of 65 Arab families left the Gaza Strip together with the evacuating Israeli troops, it was learned here. They consisted in the main of local teachers, civil servants and other educated Arabs. They will be resettled in Israel.
