Several political courses are open to the papers of Jerusalem in the forthcoming municipal elections. The pre-election campaign has assumed the form of an acute fight between the two groups in the Arab population. One section of the Arab community is centered around the family of the present Mayor of Jerusalem, Nashashibi, which has been prominent in city politics for many years. Another Arab group centers around Musa Kassim Pasha, the president of the anti-Zionist Palestine Arab Executive. Both groups are seeking the political support of the Jewish voters and are cager to form an election bloc with the Jewish groups. It was stated that even the partisans of the anti-Zionist Palestine. Arab Executive are promising the Jewish groups adequate representation in the Jerusalem municipality in return for the political support in the elections. They also promise a change in their attitude toward Zionism.
The Jewish candidates being considered for office in the municipality are Ben Zwi, Salamon, a prominent Jerusalem Jewish merchant who is now vice-mayor, and Mr. Elishar, a Sephardic Jew.
