An archaeological exhibit of Biblical lore entitled “The Land of the Bible” was opened at the Smithsonian Institution today by the American Fund for Israel Institutions.
Among the exhibits is a large menorah cast in stone relief and taken from one of the earliest Jewish synagogues, built some 1,700 years ago. The Library of Congress has loaned several of its valuable Bibles, including the famed Gutenberg Bible, to the exhibit. Israel Ambassador Abba Eban tendered a reception at the Israel Embassy today to mark the opening of the exhibition.
