The Archbishop of Cordoba has informed the Jewish community that he regrets a public attack on Jews by a Catholic priest and will take measures to guard against repetition of such attacks, it was revealed here today.
In October, the DAIA, central representative organization of Argentine Jewry, protested to the Archbishop against statements by Angel Clavero, a priest, referring to Judaism as a “cancer on society.” The Archbishop’s reply, forwarded by his secretary, said that such statements were “contrary to the spirit of universal charity” and that an attempt would be made to prevent further attacks.
