Argentina’s first lady had lunch Tuesday with the local Jewish community’s political leadership. The lunch was part of events organized to celebrate DAIA’s 70th anniversary. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who is also a senator, spoke in detail about her impressions of Israel, where she recently was honored her for her commitment to human rights. “Fernandez de Kirchner was impressed by the strong development of Israeli society, its cultural and scientific values,” Claudio Avruj, DAIA’s executive director, told JTA.
