The Argentine Supreme Court affirmed today that exemption from compulsory military service for seminary students is valid for Jewish as well as for Catholic students.
The issue arose when Benjamin Abel Glaser, a student at the Jewish Seminary here, asked exemption on those grounds. Military officials rejected his request and he appealed to the federal court which upheld the Jewish student’s position. Military officials appealed the decision to the Supreme Court which affirmed that the exemption was valid for students of any religion.
