The government has issued a decree closing down Editorial Milicia, a leading disseminator of anti-Semitic hate propaganda, and banned the distribution and sale of six of its publications. The decree, published in the official Gazette, stated that the publications were creating friction incompatible with Argentina’s essential values.
“In the present circumstances, we cannot permit the dissipation of energies in ideological racial conflicts which do not respond to the sentiments of Argentines,” the government decree stated Monday. Jewish organizations in Argentina have been protesting the recent proliferation of anti-Semitic, pro-Nazi literature which coincided with a wave of bombings and vandalism against local synagogues and other Jewish institutions.
Among the statements published by Editorial Milicia was the allegation that Jews lied about Auschwitz, that Jesus was not a Jew and that the choice was between “Hitler or Lenin.”
