A measure introduced by the government in the Argentine Senate–with all likelihood of its passage–stipulates that a naturalized Argentine citizen must wait five years after he has been naturalized before he can obtain all political rights enjoyed by native-born Argentinians.
Until now, all naturalized citizens enjoyed the same political rights as native-born citizens, except that the President of Argentina must be a native-born Argentinian Catholic. Recently the naturalization process for foreigners was facilitated by the Argentine Supreme Court.
