The Institute of Jewish Affairs today called on the Argentine government to begin an inquiry into anti-Jewish and Nazi literature being published in Argentina.
The appeal accompanied a survey by the Institute which named five Nazi publishing houses, one or which has presented it opportunities of fundamental Texts of National Socialism” since June, 1975, including extracts of Hitler’s speeches. It has also issued three books by Goebbels, writings of Nazi ideologist Alfred Rosenberg, and a volume of Nazi Party songs translated into Spanish.
The Institute noted that a delegation of Argentine Jewish leaders recently asked Gen. Albano Harguindeguy, the Interior Minister, whether it was possible to proceed against the incitement to religious and racial hatred. It also quoted La Prensa, the Buenos Aires daily, which recently asked why there had never been a proper investigation into the clandestine entry into the Argentine of thousands of Nazi agents and officers during the first years of the Peronist regime in the 1940s.
