Special ceremonies, organized by the DAIA, central representative body of Argentine Jewry, Zionist and other groups, hailed the rebirth of the Jewish nation. News of the recognition of Israel by the United States provoked great Joy. Jewish shops were closed and prayers of thanksgiving were voiced in all synagogues.
