Nicanor Costa Mendez, Argentina’s Foreign Minister, who serves also as Minister of Cults, indicated at a meeting today with a delegation of Argentine Jewish leaders his support of religious freedom as a traditional principle of Argentine policy.
The delegation, representing the Buenos Aires Jewish community, was comprised of president Tobias Kamenszain and vice-president Leon Mittelman. They were presented to the Minister by Chief Rabbi David Kahane. The Minister displayed great interest in the religious problems of the Jewish community.
The two Jewish leaders told him about the yeshiva functioning under auspices of the Jewish community for training rabbis for Argentine Jewry. The audience was characterized as one of great friendliness, mutual respect and understanding.
