The executive of the Argentine Zionist Federation today threw its support behind Menachem Mendel Ussishkin for president of the World Zionist Organization as “the person who enjoys the confidence of all parties and is known to world Jewry as the most practical leader.”
Support of Ussishkin, who is president of the Jewish National Fund, was announced in a resolution the avowed aim of which was “to bring
peace and save the unity of the World Zionist Organization in its present critical moment.”
The executive appealed to all organizations and parties participating in the forthcoming World Zionist Congress to elect an executive on the basis of “personal suitability and fitness and not because of party allegiance.”
Rabbi J. L. Zlotnick, Vancouver, Canada, Zionist leader, who was elected delegate from Argentina while on a visit here in behalf of the Jewish National Fund, left for Lucerne to attend the Zionist Congress. Although he is a Group “A” Zionist by principle, he was elected by the Federation, a Group “B” faction.
