Itzhak Korn, general secretary of the World Labor Zionist Movement, castigated Argentine Zionists here for their passivity which he said has led to the virtual paralysis of the Argentine Zionist movement. Speaking at the fourth national convention of the Argentine Labor Zionist Movement, Korn also denounced the tendency of Jewish professionals to move from one diaspora country to another without making aliya.
Two educators, Fanny Karduner and Prof. Yaacov Rubel, deplored the plight of Jewish schools in Argentina. They noted that because of the economic situation here many Jewish parents can no longer afford the tuition to send their children to Jewish schools. Dr. Nehemias Resnizky, president of the DAIA, the central organization of Argentine Jews, and Luis Jaimovich, of Cordoba, warned that the worsening socioeconomic situation could lead to the Jews being made scapegoats.
Dr. Lazaro Rubinson, president of the Argentine Zionist Organization, said that the Younger generation knows nothing about Jewish life and is unwilling to consider Zionism and aliya. The convention devoted a special session to consider means of strengthening the Jewish identity of Argentine youth.
