The internationalization of Jerusalem is the only method to give the three great religions fair treatment, Cyril Garbett, the Archbishop of York, declared today in a statement.
Warning that “sooner or later the attempt to keep two Jerusalems will break down,” Dr. Garbett foresaw the “end of the uneasy truce” and bloodshed in the streets of the city. He added that Jerusalem is divided by “hate and suspicion,” asserting that the United Nations “seems powerless” and that its decisions “have been flouted.”
