Ariel Sharon’s Likud Party approved a possible coalition with the opposition Labor Party. Israeli media reports said that at least 60 percent of voters in the Likud’s Central Committee approved the idea. Such a move could help the Israeli prime minister avoid early elections and allow him to move ahead with his plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank.
