Armand Brunschwig, honorary president of the Geneva Jewish Community and for many years a leader in Jewish and Israeli causes in this country, died here at the age of 85.
Mr. Brunschwig was president of this city’s Jewish community until recent years. He was also president of Swiss CRT, and held many important positions in non-Jewish as well as in Jewish and especially Israeli causes here. A generous contributor to Israeli causes, he was president of the Geneva committee for the sale of Israel bonds.
During World War II, he devoted his energies and influence to aiding Jewish refugees from Nazi-occupied countries. He had also been vice-president of the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities, and honorary president of the CRT Central Institute here. His widow, Madame Suzanne Brunschwig, is honorary president of the Geneva section of the Women’s International Zionist Organization, Another survivor, a son, Jean, is president of the Keren Hayesod, the fund-raising arm of the World Zionist Organization in French Switzerland.
