An Israel military spokesman said today that four Arab infiltrators armed with Egyptian Army-type submachine guns had been caught in Israel territory close to the Gaza strip. He said the four identified themselves as members of the Faddayin organization (so called “self-sacrificers”).
Israel authorities ascribed a number of sabotage acts to the group three weeks ago when fighting flared up all along the Gaza strip. The spokesman said the four admitted that they were sent into Israel by Egyptian Army headquarters in Gaza. Gen. E. L. M. Burns, chief of the UN Truce Supervisory Organization, is to leave for Cairo tomorrow to continue negotiations on his proposals for a physical barrier along the Gaza demarcation line.
