A wreath was placed today in behalf of the Hungarian Army on the memorial for Jewish heroes unveiled yesterday by President Zoltan Tildy and Premier Lajos Dinneys at Gyor.
Speaking at the ceremony, Moses A. Leavitt, executive vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, who is visiting Hungary, said that the memorial should be a constant reminder of the need for “human solidarity.” He expressed appreciation of the pledges made at the monument’s dedication by Hungarian statesmen, who declared that the government will make a repetition of the anti-Jewish horrors impossible.
