Israeli army units have seized a road in southern Lebanon that parallels the Israeli border and are stopping and searching vehicles for arms and explosives destined for terrorist groups, it was announced today. An army spokesman was unable to say whether any arms have been seized in the operation.
According to military sources, Israeli troops began setting up roadblocks on the road several nights ago. They took the action after a sudden increase in traffic along the road aroused suspicion that large quantities of arms were being transported to terrorists in the region.
