Emanuel Aronsberg, a member of the United States Legation in Latvia, died here today at the age of 49.
Mr. Aronsberg was a member of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency staff in the United States and later in London before he joined the American diplomatic service. Since he was of Russian birth, he was appointed Councillor for Russian Affairs at the American Legation here, which post he held for the past seven years.
Last year, when the United States recognized Soviet Russia, Mr. Aronsberg was slated for a diplomatic post in the American service in Russia. After a visit to Washington he was assigned temporarily to the Riga legation pending his scheduled assumption of office in Soviet Russia.
Mr. Aronsberg was master of more than a dozen languages and was the translator of many important works into English. At one time he was a member of the Foreign Language Information Bureau maintained by the American Red Cross.
