Arrests of Jews in Rumania on charges of conspiracy and anti-Communism are continuing, it was reported here today from Istanbul on the basis of information received by the Rumanian Liberation Committee there. The Committee also reported that Jews in Rumania were not permitted to produce Mazoths for Passover.
Most of the Rumanian Jews arrested, the report said, are Zionists. Other Zionist leaders have been under arrest for many months without having been tried, the Committee said. The Committee also reported that anti-Communists in Rumania are blaming the Jews for the present internal difficulties in that country and there has been a resultant increase in anti-Semitism. Despite a sustained anti-Zionist propaganda program, the Committee said, the majority of the 300,000 Jews, in Rumania wish to emigrate to Israel.
