A large arsenal of guns, rifles, pistols, incendiary bombs, flares and rockets was found in the home of a farmer near here, it was announced today by special agents of the U.S. Treasury Department who raided the farmer’s home. The accused man, William Huntingdon Garland, 47, told the government agents he is a member of an organization calling itself the Christian Defense League.
There were more than 100 weapons in the man’s home, the agents said, as well as several thousand rounds of ammunition and about 30 bulletproof vests. The man was held for a hearing on a charge of violating the federal firearms act.
