The Jewish Academy of Arts and Sciences will hold a convocation in the auditorium of the Jewish Center, 131 West Eighty-sixth street, this evening (Sunday) at which Professor Richard Gottheil of Columbia University will be inducted as an honorary fellow and ten other distinguished Jews installed as members. Professor Gottheil will deliver the address of the evening.
Four rabbis, two doctors, two educators, a composer and an authority on Lincolniana are to be installed as members of the academy, whose executive officers are at 498 West End avenue. They are:
Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, the Temple, Cleveland; Dr. Louis M. Epstein, Kehillath Israel Congregation, Brooklyn, Mass.; Dr. Solomon B. Freehof, Rodef Shalom Temple, Pittsburgh; Dr. Jacob Kohn, Sinai Temple, Los Angeles.
Dr. Samuel Weiss, Jewish Memorial and Beth David Hospitals; Dr. Julius Burstein, Morrisania and St. Elizabeth’s Hospitals.
Dr. Benjamin B. Greenberg and Dr. Oswald Schlockow, district superintendents of schools; Abraham W. Binder, composer, and Emanuel Hertz, Lincolniana expert.
