The Paris newspaper Nouveau Temps admitted editorially today that there had been grave abuses by “Aryan” provisional administrators appointed over Jewish business.
Many of the administrators, the editorial charged, had falsely declared the enterprises put under their charge “hopeless” from the business viewpoint and had closed them with the aim of eliminating important competitors. The administrators come from the ranks of industrialists, who are thus given the rights of life or death over firms with which they have often been in competition.
Declaring that no consideration was given the fate of workers and their families, the newspaper suggested that the law for expropriation of Jewish property be executed in such a way as to replace Jewish owners with cooperatives of “Aryan” employes.
A further extension of the deadline for census registration by Jews has been found necessary. The new deadline, deferred from July 14, will be announced in official instructions to be issued shortly.
