The Egyptian Ambassador to the United States, Ashraf Ghorbal, was among some 1,000 persons who attended an Independence Day reception at the Israel Embassy here yesterday, marking the 36th anniversary of the Jewish State.
Others present included Secretary of Energy Donald Hodel, Richard Murphy, Assistant Secretary of State for Near East and South Asian Affairs, and Elliott Abrams, Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs. Also attending the event, hosted by Israeli Ambassador Meir Rosenne and his wife Vera were foreign diplomats, members of Congress, Administration officials and representatives of the Washington area Jewish community.
