Intervention of the Polish government on behalf of about 30,000 Jews of Polish extraction in Austria was requested today by the World Federation of Polish Jews. Instructions to request Warsaw’s intervention were cabled by Benjamin Winter, president of the Federation, to Dr. Jacob Taubes, secretary, at Amsterdam. Similar requests for Polish intervention will be made through petitions to be presented to the Polish embassies and ministries in nineteen countries where the World Federation of Polish Jews has branches. Issuance of passports for Jews of Polish extraction will be urged.
