Allan Bronfman, chairman of the Herzl Year Committee of the United Zionist Council of Canada, issued a call today to all rabbis in Canada requesting them to observe February 12 as a memorial to Theodor Herzl, founder of the modern political Zionist movement. The date is the Sabbath preceding the 59th anniversary of Herzl’s work, “The Jewish State.”
The rabbis were asked to devote their sermons to Herzl’s life and achievements.
