The grand old man of Dutch Jewry, A. Asscher, today celebrated his 80th birthday. Mr. Asscher has for many years been president of the Amsterdam Jewish Community, the Union of Ashkenazic Communities in Holland and the Dutch branch of the Alliance Israelite Universelle.
