Assistant District Attorney Emanuel Weiss was chosen as chairman of a drive to be made January 6 to 13 to raise $35,000 as Reading’s contribution to the United Jewish Campaign and the United Palestine Appeal. William Hirsch, representing the United Jewish campaign and Benjamin L. Rubinsohn, chairman of the United Palestine Appeal for this district, were the chief speakers at the dinner where plans for the drive were formulated.
The Jewish Welfare Board, the national organization for Y. M. H. A.’s, and Jewish Community Centers, is aiding those institutions in plans for the observance of Chanukah, by the presentation of plays, recitations and addresses.
