At least three people in a Gaza village were killed after a large cesspool collapsed. Tuesday’s accident flooded the village with mud and sewage, and also knocked down homes. Some 200 people were reported missing; about 3,000 people were evacuated.
Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz told the army to provide assistance to the Palestinians in any way it could, including to prepare for a possible evacuation of the injured to Israeli hospitals.
