At the last meeting of the Jewish Federation of New Orleans, which is affiliated with the New Orleans Community Chest, it was decided to organize a study committee of what is known as a Jewish Welfare Organization to take care of Jewish appeals, national, sectional, and international, which are not provided for by the Community Chest campaign.
The Chairman of the Committee is Rabbi E. W. Leipziger, and the other members are S. Walter Stern, Monte Lemann, Charles Rosen, and S. Mintz, Within the next month the Committee will make its first report as it has been collecting material from all parts of the country.
A special Committee, appointed by Dr. J. W. Newman. President of the Jewish Children’s Home, is organizing a diamond jubilee of the Institution.
Under the auspices of the Solomon Marx Lodge, I. O. B. B., a Lessing Bi-Centenary Meeting was held at the Touro Synagogue.
