Maariv today named Tal Brodie, the American-born basketball player as the Israeli athlete of the 1970s. Brodie, from Trenton, N.I., immigrated to Israel after participating on the U.S. basketball team in the 1965 Maccabiah Games. He was an all-American at the University of Illinois. Maariv said the athlete of the would for the decade was heavyweight boxing champion Muhammed Ali.
