Some 650 members of the Atlanta Jewish community gathered in the Greenwood Cemetery’s Jewish section to dedicate a tombstone monument to the memory of the 6,000,000 Jewish men, women and children murdered during World War II by the Nazis.

Mayor Ivan Allen joined with representatives of Jewish organizations and the rabbinate in warning of the lesson which the Nazi holocaust poses for free men who remain silent in the face of evil. Survivors of the death camps carried to the cemetery for reinterment a small casket of ashes of victims murdered and cremated by the Nazis in the Dachau camp.
