Using guns and bombs, supporters of Col. Ian Peron last night again invaded the Jewish section of the city and attacked Jews in the streets.
The Jews offered stiff resistance and the Peronists, who numbered more than fifty, were compelled to retreat after firing about thirty shots and throwing two bombs. No casualties were reported.
As usual, the Peron-controlled police arrived after the disturbances had ended and arrested an 18-year-old Jewish youth. The police’s persistent refusal to curb anti-Jewish outbreaks, and their arrests of only the Jewish victims, was again attacked today in the Socialist newspaper Futuro. The paper also charged that the police are torturing political prisoners, particularly Jews.
