Apprehension was felt in Jewish circles here today because of severe anti-Jewish attacks which have appeared in a number of Nazi newspapers, publication of which is now permitted in Austria.
Fears arise from the fact that the Austrian government is now quite indifferent to the anti-Semitic propaganda which the Nazi press continues to feature. In their attacks today the Nazi newspapers demand a complete boycott against Jewish lawyers.
Today’s anti-Jewish articles are published in papers subsidized by Dr. Walter Riehl, leader of the Nazi party in Austria. Dr. Riehl, in a signed article, writes that “anti-Semitism is naturally permitted in Austria and is not considered a movement against the government.”
