The Government of North Rhine–Westphalia has brought to a temporary halt an attempt to revive the Hither Youth movement b arresting the former leader of this movement, Alfons Hoeller, and by closing down the offices here of the “Reich Youth Movement.”

Hoeller, who is 37, some years ago built up the youth organization of the neo-Nazi Socialist Reich Party.” Both the party and his association were declared unconstitutional and banned, but he joined another neo-Nazi political grouping, the “German Reich Party,” and in February of this year set up the “Reich Youth Movement.” Hoeller’s arrest was ordered when he encouraged his followers to hold out, even after his new movement had also been declared illegal last month. Members of the “Reich Youth” were recruited predominantly from former Hitler Youth officers.
