Prime Minister Clement’ R. Attlee and Palestine High Commissioner Sir Alan G. Cunningham met in a private session today in preparation for a Cabinet meeting, scheduled for this week, on the Palestine situation. The Cabinet meeting will decide whether martial law will be imposed on the country.
Meanwhile, government sources stated that additional British troops will be dispatched to Palestine in the expectation of the largest “offensive” in modern Palestinian history. These sources indicated that there will be 100,000 troops in Palestine.
