The rightwing weekly “Wiener Montag” today called for a Christmas amnesty for Nazis imprisoned for war crimes and their readmission “to human society” in Austria. The publication also demanded “termination of anti-Nazi propaganda.”
The frontpage article also offered advice to victims of the Nazis that “boasting” of injuries suffered during their imprisonment by the Nazis benefits nobody and suggested that the victims “preach forgiveness rather than claim vengeance.”
The same newspaper also carried an editorial stating that the Arab states are correct in fearing that the German-Israel reparations agreement may result in new Israel aggression. It said the reparations pact will “strengthen Israel considerably” and added that Israel should have given the Arab nations guarantees that it will not renew aggression, instead of suspecting them of anti-Semitism.
