Australia denied reports it granted 12 countries, including Israel and the United States, permission to send armed guards to protect their delegations at the Olympic Games. Israel Radio quoted Australian authorities as saying Sydney would take special measures to protect the Israeli delegation at the Games, but did not say whether the measures would apply to other delegations.
