The Australian Federal government today issued an official statement emphatically denying that it has any intention of amending the existing immigration regulations. The statement was issued in reply to the proposal advanced by Melech Rawich, well-known Jewish writer of Brisbane, Australia, that 30,000 German refugees be settled in Northern Australia.

The government has no intention of taking any action which might disturb British German relations, apart from any other considerations, the statement declared, adding that the local unemployment situation would check any Australian action to permit a wholesale immigration of foreigners.
