The attitude of the Australian government towards admission of Jewish victims of Nazism into Australia was praised here by Benjamin M. Green, president of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry, now on a visit to the United States.
“There has been a steady immigration of Jewish refugees to Australia,” Mr. Green said. “On several occasions the Australian Government has relaxed its own regulations in order to facilitate the entry of European Jews.”
Reporting on the campaign initiated by the Australian Jewish community against German immigration to Australia, Mr. Green emphasized that the presence of large numbers of Germans in Australia who lived under the Nazi regime and studied in Nazi schools cannot but be “a formidable threat to our country with its population of only 8,000,000.”
