Australian Jewish leaders are calling on the government to respond to reports that the country’s government recruited 127 scientists from Nazi Germany after World War II. An investigation by the Melbourne Age and Sydney Morning Herald newspapers revealed Monday that some of the scientists recruited were involved in the Third Reich’s war effort, including some SS members. Jewish leaders also demanded that a government committee investigating suspected Nazi war criminals living in Australia be reopened immediately.
