Australian Jewish leaders defended Israel against allegations from the country’s lawmakers that the Jewish state is breaching human rights in its treatment of its Arabs and Palestinians. The charges came Sunday at a meeting of the Australian Parliament’s subcommittee on human rights. The meeting also covered the issues of anti-Semitism and religious freedom in Australia, and anti-Jewish activities in Iran, South America, the Arab world and Europe.
