Sarcastic comment by the anti-Semitic press here has greeted the Legitimist proclamation issued by Major-General Sommer, ex-president of the League of Jewish Front Fighters.
Declaring that the number of Jewish Front Fighters is “obviously inadequate for any organization of consequence,” the Sued-deutsches Tageblatt writes that the proclamation should address itself also to “the many more Jews who have grateful memories of Imperial Austria during the War, who were not front fighters.”
“We mean,” the paper states, “the Jewish war-contractors and war profiteers. They can be easily won over, and it is a pity the proclamation has failed to address itself to them. We hope that our hint will be found to be of use. We are not all of us as forgetful as the author of his proclamation appears to be of the existence of the Jewish war profiteers.”
