The Supreme Court yesterday upheld an orthodox Jewish father in his refusal to grant his daughter a dowry because she had married a Christian. The girl had sued to obtain the dowry.
In handing down the verdict, the court ruled that “the father, being an orthodox Jew, naturally wished his daughter to marry a Jew.” It added that the father’s viewpoint should be respected.
