A delegation of the Vienna Jewish Community, headed by its president, David Brill, today called on Minister of Property and Reconstruction Peter Krauland, who promised to facilitate the restoration of Jewish property.
The delegation presented the following demands to the Ministers Jewish representation in the Ministry; participation by Jewish leaders in all decisions involving Jewish property and establishment of a special department in the Ministry manned by Jews to handle the technical details involved in filling claims and other legal procedures.
An editorial in the “Kleines Volksblatt,” organ of the Austrian Peoples Party, which is headed by Chancellor Leopold Figl, says that all of the political parties in the country agree that rehabilitation of surviving Jews is a prerequisite to restoration of a democratic state. Chancellor Figl, it adds, has promised settlement of the problems affecting Jews, since he believes they are among the most important facing his government.
