Jewish leaders here have expressed approval of and confidence in the new Austrian Government. This sentiment is expressed in the Jewish publications Neue Welt and Die Stimme, which stress the “favorable a9pccts” of the new Cabinet’s decision to confer with world Jewish organizations on reparations, a decision announced by the new Chancellor–Julius Raab–shortly after he assumed the reins of government.
Neue Welt, in a detailed article, summarizes the advantages of the new government, noting that all Socialist Ministers of the Figl Cabinet were re nominated that the Socialist Party was able to strengthen its representation in the government by two new State Secretaries (Die Stimme stresses that State Secretary Bruno Kreisky is a Jew), and that the League of Independents was kept out of the government by the opposition of the Socialists.
