Franz Sobek, ex-president of the Organization of Concentration Camp Inmates, a non-Jew, was awarded today the annual gold medal to a non-Jew given each year by the Association of Austrian Jewish Communities for helping Jews in Nazi camps.
Announcement of the award was made by the president of the Jewish association, Emil Maurer. Among other prominent Austrians who have been given this Jewish award in the past are Leopold Figl, president of the Austrian Parliament.
